president mugabe latest 1.pngThe Zimbabwe’s Ex-Political Prisoners, Detainees and Restrictees Association, (ZEPPDRA), Harare Province, has joined other provinces in rallying behind the Head of State and Government and Commander-in-Chief of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces, President Robert Mugabe as their candidate for the general elections scheduled for next year.

In a statement in the capital, ZEPPDRA Vice Chairman Harare Province, Cde Benjamin Chakauya said President Mugabe is a strong defender of African sovereignty and has the tenacity to repulse the west’s machinations against the country.

Cde Chakauya said President Mugabe, who will officially open the conference this Thursday, has withstood many political trials and tribulations and has remained firm on matters of principle.

“We are fully behind President Mugabe because of what he has done to this country. He is an upright and consistant leader, who is commited to democratic principles, which have seen Zimbabwe holding elections in every five years in accordance with the Zimbabwean constitution,” said Cde Chakauya.

The 12th Zanu-PF Annual National People’s conference roared into life this Tuesday with local delegates getting accredited while some invited representatives of solidarity parties from the region including the Botswana Democratic Party have begun arriving this Tuesday evening.

Representatives from Chama Cha Mapinduzi of Tanzania, MPLA of Angola, Patriotic front of Zambia, SWAPO of Namibia, ANC of South Africa and others that share similar ideology and principles with Zanu-PF.

The conference is being held under the theme “Defend national sovereignty- consolidate indigenisation and economic empowerment.’

Top of the agenda of the conference is the topic on indigenisation and agriculture.

Delegates will also discuss regional and international developments and the state of the economy, where despite positive economic growth, and improved capacity utilisation in the industrial sector, more still needs to be done to restore and further boost the country’s output.

About 3000 delegates are expected to attend the conference that will be held at the ZITF grounds in the city of kings and queens.
