The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) says it is in the process of cleaning up data received during the biometric voter registration to come up with a clean and accurate provisional voters roll for inspection by political parties.
The electoral mother body’s chairperson Justice Priscilla Chigumba was at the Zimbabwe National Defence University, Alfred Nikita Mangena Barracks where she addressed students on the state of preparedness ahead of the 2018 polls.
“We will have the presidential proclamation and release a provisional voters’ roll for inspection by political parties and we will also then have the final voters roll and thereafter proceed to elections. There will be a multi party liaison committee which will deal with electoral disputes,” she said.
Justice Chigumba also said ZEC is working flat out to ensure the 2018 harmonised polls pass are in conformity with the international requirements and pass the credibility test.
She urged all political parties to embrace the diversity and plurality of views and shun violence to ensure that polls are not marred.
