More than 95 000 people registered during the first phase of the biometric voter registration (BVR) in Chipinge.

Chipinge district elections officer, Mr James Saguru said the electoral body is happy that the BVR exercise registered a good turnout in Chipinge.

While the process continues at the district offices until the 14th January 2018 a record figure of above 95 000 people registered in the first phase.

Chipinge residents commended the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) for making the registration exercise smooth and accessible with those yet to register saying they will take advantage of the January 14 deadline.

From Chipinge the BVR process goes to Nyanga and Mutasa among other areas under phase 2.
