The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) has registered 4.3 million potential voters since the beginning of the biometric voter registration (BVR) process on September 14 this year.
This comes as the electoral body meets the media to update them on the progress made in the BVR registration.
ZEC acting chair Commissioner Emmanuel Magade said his organisation is working hard to ensure all those who want to participate in the electoral process are accommodated.
Commissioner Magade revealed that the resignation of Justice Rita Makarau as ZEC chair has not in any way affected their operations adding they will cherish her work during her tenure.
The electoral commission which had initially targeted about 7 million potential voters in terms of the data obtained from the Zimbabwe Statistics Office said they are now expecting around five million voters.
ZEC is in the fourth phase of the registration blitz which is expected to end on December 19.
However, there are indications that the process can be extended.
The constitution does not mandate citizens to participate in the electoral process but ZEC said it will continue with voter education to reach out to every citizen.
