A partnership between the Zimbabwe Defence Forces (ZDF) and a Chinese company, China National Building Materials Group Corporation (CNBM) International is expected to culminate in improved conditions of service for members of the defence forces.

This came out when the General Manager of the company, Mr Kent Ma and his delegation paid a courtesy call on Vice President Retired General Dr Constantino Chiwenga, who is also Minister of Defence and War Veterans, at the Defence House in Harare.

The two sides held a closed door meeting where various issues of mutual interest came under the spotlight and one of the issues discussed concerned the conditions of service for members of the defence forces especially in the area of accommodation.

Vice President Chiwenga said the ZDF has always cooperated with CNBM and this time, the company will help address some of the long standing challenges facing the force.

ZNBM is a state owned company which specialises in the distribution of building materials and engineering products in China and internationally.

Mr Kent said his organisation is committed to assisting Zimbabwe rebuild its economy.

In April this year, President Emmerson Mnangagwa led a delegation of cabinet ministers and business executives to China, as the new administration angled for opportunities aimed at turning around the country’s economy.

A number of deals are being implemented following the President’s historic trip to China.
