ZNA Chief of Staff Administration, Major General Paul Chima has commended the defence forces for their enormous contribution to the socio-economic development of rural communities through the various projects they have undertaken throughout the country.

He made the remarks during a handover ceremony of an ECD block at Zhaugwe School in Shurugwi.

The construction of two ECD classroom blocks by the ZDF brought smiles to the Zhaugwe community in Shurugwi and was a huge sigh of relief for the little ones of the ECD age group who were not going to school because the nearest good ECD facilities in the area is 10 kilometres away.

Commissioning the classroom blocks, Major General Chima applauded the defence forces for their sterling work in community projects that continue to improve the way of life of people.

“We appreciate the contribution of men and women in uniform in the socio-economic development of the country as they give back to the community where they came from. The project is a testimony of the trust and mutual understanding that exist between the populace and the military,” he said.

Over the years, the Zimbabwe Defence Forces has been assisting communities countrywide with development projects that have bettered the lives of ordinary citizens especially rural communities.

In the Midlands Province, the ZDF has undertaken notable projects which include ECD blocks in Kwekwe and Redcliff, while some projects are at various levels of completion and will be handed over in due course.
