The Zimbabwe cricket team joined fellow Zimbabweans in providing comfort to grieving and distressed families following the widespread devastation of Cyclone Idai.
President Emmerson Mnangagwa has called on Zimbabweans to show their oneness and come together to help victims of Cyclone Idai.
While presenting donations to ZBC who are also mobilising relief material, Zimbabwe Cricket board chairman Honourable Tavengwa Mukhuhlani said it is everyone’s responsibility to assist the victims of the cyclone which left a trail of destruction especially in the Eastern Highlands.
“It is a call that us as the Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) feels demands every institution to play its part in ensuring the President’s call for assistance is fulfilled hence our small gesture towards supporting victims of Cyclone Idai,” he said.
Zimbabwe national men’s cricket team captain Hamilton Masakadza said the followers of cricket are many and these share their moments of joys and tears hence today ZC also shares its grief with victims of Cyclone Idai.
To receive the consignment was the ZBC team which thanked the ZC board for its gesture.
