zbc-mbada deal.jpgThe Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation and Mbada Diamonds sealed a contract that will see the diamond mining concern bankrolling the live broadcast of the Africa Cup of Nations which begins in Equatorial Guinea today.

The Mbada Diamonds sponsorship will see the Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation broadcasting live all 32 matches at the continental showpiece.

Speaking at the signing of the sponsorship agreement, Mbada Diamonds Chief Executive Officer, Patience Khumalo, said they remain committed towards bringing the beautiful game to the people, hence their bankrolling of the Nations Cup which is part of their corporate social responsibility.

“This sponsorship is part of giving back to the community and we will continue to do all we can to ensure that people enjoy watching football on television,” said Khumalo.

In response to the gesture by Mbada Diamonds, Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation Chief Executive Officer, Happison Muchechetere said the national broadcaster is indebted to the mining concern for its continued commitment towards sponsoring football.

Muchechetere said: “Other companies should take a leaf from Mbada Diamonds. They have made it possible for people to enjoy watching football and this was made evident in the Mbada Cup which they inaugurated last year.”

The Africa Cup of Nations gets underway in equatorial Guinea this Saturday and will start with the official opening ceremony which will be beamed live on ZBC TV at 1800 hours, before Equatorial Guinea and Libya take to the field to contest the first match of the tournament.

Zambia will then take on Senegal in the second match of the opening day.
