The national broadcaster, Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation (ZBC), has been commended for upholding its mandate of ensuring that communities access radio and television with its latest product Khulumani FM said to be growing in leaps and bounds.

ZBC’s first local commercial radio station broadcasting from Montrose Studios in Bulawayo has become the station of choice dwarfing other stations as it uses polished local languages striking the right code with listeners who feel their languages and cultures are being promoted.

The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Information, Media and Broadcasting Services, Mr George Charamba who toured Khulumani studios at Montrose said he was happy that the station is a force to reckon with as indicated by the multitudes of listeners.

He however noted that there is a need for Khulumani FM to continue upgrading its technological uptake and follow the global trends of also using other platforms to reach out to the world.

Mr Charamba noted that there is need to widen the radius that community radio stations cover given the demographic location of people.

ZBC remains the preferred station of choice as it captures the imagination of its listeners and viewers packaging its programming in an appealing way to its clients.
