Lack of funds threatens to wreck the Zimbabwe Baseball Association’s plans to send a team to take part in three tournaments in Chinese Taipei after being invited by the International Baseball Federation (IBAF).
The tournament, which is the first IBAF Baseball World Championships in Taipei for the U-12 will be held from the 8th of July 2011.
The other tournament for the U-16s and U-23s will be held in later dates during the course of the year in Mexico and Panama respectively.
Zimbabwe Baseball Federation Secretary General, Leonard Makuwaza said the association does not have adequate resources and urged the corporate world and individuals to come aboard and assist.
The team, which comprises 18 players and 8 officials, requires air tickets and training kits.
Athletes are drawn from all the country’s provinces with most of them being mainly disadvantaged children who have found hope in sport.
