Several foreign exhibitors and large corporate, who had been absent at the previous four editions of the Harare Agricultural Show, have returned.
Current figures from the Zimbabwe Agricultural Society (ZAS) indicate that over 1000 participants have confirmed participation at this year’s edition set for the 19th to the 27th of this month.
With less than three weeks before the 101 edition of the premier Harare Agricultural Show, figures from ZAS indicate that the exhibition is over subscribed with figures indicating that applications for the fair have surpassed last year’s figure of 720 to reach over 1 000.
ZAS Marketing and Public Relations Manager, Mrs Sibonginkosi Muteyiwa confirmed the increased participation and expressed satisfaction at the preparations for the event.
This year’s edition of the fair will be held under the theme, “Celebrating Agricultural Growth and Promoting Green Business,” with a special emphasis on the resurgence of the tobacco and cotton industry as well as the need to raise awareness on the need to conserve the environment.
The show comes at a time when the country’s half year economic performance indicates that the local economy is poised to register over 9% real GDP growth by December 2011, driven by positive performance of the agriculture as well as the mining sectors.Â
