The Zanu PF Youth League Chairperson for Harare Province, Godwin Gomwe says they are shocked by the unruly behaviour of supporters of the opposition MDC Alliance given the fact that the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) had not yet announced all election results.

Four vehicles were reduced to ashes at the ruling party’s offices, while an employee at the office was assaulted during yesterday’s violent protests.

Addressing colleagues at the provincial headquarters in Harare this morning, Gomwe said they have communicated on all its members not to retaliate but to wait for the results so that they can celebrate the success they scored during the election.

He added that they will heed the gospel of President Emmerson Mnangagwa of peace and to maintain calm for the good of the nation.

The party’s Secretary for Administration in Harare Province, Tendai Chirau said they are grateful for the intervention as further destruction was averted from happening at the party offices as the perpetrators of the violence were armed with petrol bombs.
