The Zanu PF Women’s League has commended the First Lady Dr Grace Mugabe for the women empowerment programmes she has crafted which have seen women undergoing a poultry training workshop in Nkayi and other parts of Matabeleland North Province.
The Zanu PF Women’s League members from Nkayi have undergone a poultry production training workshop in preparation for the 428 day old chicks which the district will receive from the First Lady.
Zanu PF secretary for business development, Cde Sithembiso Nyoni told the party members to remain united and expressed gratitude to the Dr Mugabe for the initiative she is taking to empower women in the country.
“Please send this message to the First Lady that in Nkayi we are very united and we would like to thank her for the programmes that she is doing for us,” she said.
Zanu PF Women’s League Matabeleland North provincial chairperson Cde Madeline Bhebhe said women have been equipped with the relevant skills in records keeping, feeding, cleanliness and shelter among other things.
“Last time we had a problem because most of the chicks died and so the First Lady decided that we should all be trained first before she can give us the allocation of 3000 for the whole province then we will divide that into seven districts, so this has been very helpful to the women,” said Cde Bhebhe.
Similar workshops have already been held in Lupane and Bulawayo, but the members from Nkayi could not attend due to logistical challenges.
Another similar workshop meant to cater for members from Nkayi North has been combined with a food fair held at Gwelutshena Business Centre.
