The Zanu PF inter-provincial Committee that was set up to address the problem of land disputes in Harare and Goromonzi, says it is finalising its task of correcting the problem which is mainly double allocation of stands.
Addressing members of different housing co-operatives at Caledonia Farm in Harare where the challenges of bogus housing cooperatives and double allocation of stands had stalled development, Mashonaland East Provincial Secretary for Security, Cde Lawrence Katsiru said they have been tasked by the party to bring order and sanity in the housing projects established by Zanu PF under its housing for all policy.
“We are in the process of ensuring order in our party and reorganising the housing cooperatives that were established by our party to ensure housing for all,†he said.
Zanu PF Harare Province Secretary for Lands, Cde Eric Pfumvuti said the party is working with the Ministry of Local Government, Rural and Urban Development to ensure transparency in the distribution of housing stands to members of co-operatives
“It is very disheartening to note that many members of the co-operative have no proper housing documents. Some people have more than two residential stands which is not good at all,†he said.
The Zanu PF led government came up with the concept of housing cooperatives after independence to ensure the provision of decent housing for all.
However, the concept has been hijacked by some bogus elements who are defrauding home seekers of their hard earned cash.
