mdc youth.jpgThe Zanu PF Harare Provincial Youth Chairperson, Cde Jim Kunaka, was attacked in Harare last night as cases of Zanu PF supporters being attacked by suspected MDC supporters continue to increase.

The attack follows a number of threats from opposition supporters, who said they wanted to assassinate him.

Cde Kunaka was attacked by suspected MDC supporters in the capital’s Central Business District as he was purchasing bread to take home after work.

He said it has become clear in the past weeks that MDC is a party of violent supporters as seen by their provoking ways aimed at making Zanu PF youths and supporters retaliate so that they can be labeled a violent party.

Zanu PF Youth League National Deputy Secretary for Information and Publicity, Cde Cecilia Chivhunga condemned the violence perpetrated by suspected MDC supporters.

“Zanu PF youths and supporters do not subscribe to violence as a way of solving problems,” she said.

She however warned the Zanu PF youths and supporters to be vigilant and protect constitution making process that will lead to elections, whick the opposition MDC is trying to block and discredit.

In the past few weeks, a wave of violence recently rocked high density areas like Mbare, Epworth and Chitungwiza resulting in the Harare Provincial Chairpersons of the three political parties, which are signatories to the Global Political Agreement (GPA) under the auspices of the Joint Monitoring and Implementation Committee, (JOMIC) issuing a joint statement denouncing the violence.

The recent violence that rocked the city, saw MDC-T supporters threatening to bring business to a standstill in the city but were thwarted by vigilant law enforcement agents.

The violence has also come on the back drop of statements by MDC-T leader, Mr Morgan Tsvangirai that were encouraging Zimbabweans to launch an Egypt- Tunisia style rebellion against the government.
