Zanu PF National Political Commissar Retired Lieutenant General Engelbert Rugeje says his party will not be deterred by elements who are bent on carrying out acts of violence against the party leadership.
He was addressing party supporters in Mashoko, Bikita where he noted the recent outrageous incident at White City stadium will not stop progress.
Cde Rugeje told party supporters that some people have realised that the Zanu PF train is moving and is unstoppable, hence the failed efforts to derail the party programmes.
“Zvakaitika ndezvekuti vamwe vakawona kuti chitima che Zanu PF hachisikumira. Vanhu vaifunga kuti Zanu PF haichina vanhu vakazowona aikaka vanhu varipo. Musatyisidzirwa nevanhu. (They have since realised that Zanu PF is forging ahead with many people supporting it. Do not be intimidated),” said Cde Rugeje.
Cde Rugeje urged Zanu PF supporters to observe peace at all times urging them to shun and walk away from violence even when provoked.
“We have elections observers in the country. If they see violence the country will not get the support we need to build our country,” he added.
The Mashoko area has perennial water challenges and poor road infrastructure.
Cde Rugeje assured the community that government will prioritise provision of water for the villagers, noting that work to rehabilitate the roads has already begun.
