Zanu PF Politburo members from Bulawayo have expressed sadness following the death of Cde Misheck Ntundu Velaphi Ncube, a member of the Zanu PF National Consultative Assembly.
Cde Ncube (82), who passed on Monday has been described as a cadre who ceaselessly fought to see a united and prosperous Zimbabwe.
Zanu PF Politburo member, Cde Absalom Sikhosana said the relentless political participation of the late Cde Ncube will forever be treasured by the revolutionary party, adding that the provincial leadership has forwarded a request to the Politburo for Cde Ncube to be accorded a national hero status.
“It is with a heavy heart that we announce the death of Cde Ncube. He was a veteran of the liberation struggle and a consistent and reliable member of the party. He was one of those who joined the struggle at a tender age and he was among the first to go for military training in the early 60s. The entire nation has lost a revolutionary icon, who was always focused and displayed maturity which unified people. His vision was to see a united, developed and peaceful Zimbabwe. Looking at the immense contribution of this cadre before and after independence, the Bulawayo leadership has met and resolved to recommend and request for a national hero status for the late comrade. If we were to sit back and reflect on his works, we believe that he is more than deserving to be given that status,” said Cde Sikhosana
Cde Ncube joined the struggle in 1962 as a ZIPRA cadre.
He went through Zambia and then proceeded to Egypt for further military training.
Mourners are gathered at 70590, Lobengula West in Bulawayo.
