Zanu PF Matabeleland South Province says it has come up with a number of strategies to increase its support base particularly among the country’s youths who constitute the majority of voters as preparations for the 2018 elections gather momentum.

Speaking on the sidelines of a Zanu PF provincial coordinating committee and provincial development committee meeting held in Gwanda yesterday, the party’s provincial chairman Cde Rabelani Choene said the party has embarked on a massive mobilisation drive that is targeting the youths whose vote is key in winning the coming elections.

Cde Choene also underscored the need for the Chitepo School of Ideology to be cascaded to the grassroot level in order to ensure that party leaders and members appreciate the founding principles and values of the party.

Addressing the meeting earlier, the Minister of Rural Development, Promotion and Preservation of National Culture and Heritage Cde Abednico Ncube thanked various stakeholders for their role in the successful hosting of the 21st February Movement celebrations saying the same spirit of unity should continue to prevail.

The meeting also discussed the forthcoming Independence Day celebrations where various committees where implored to start preparing for the important occasion through mobilisation of adequate resources.

The event will be celebrated in all the seven districts.
