cattle 01.09.10.jpgZanu PF has spread its livestock programme to Matebeleland North Province as the party seeks to promote economic empowerment and self dependence in all its structures countrywide.

Zanu PF National Secretary for Production and Labour, Cde Dzikamai Mavhaire told party members at a Provincial Coordinating Committee meeting in Lupane that the programme will see party members at Politburo level down to District Level contributing cattle that will be used to kick start the project in the province.

He said the livestock programme will generate revenue for the party which will be used to fund party activities and empower the people in agricultural activities, adding that the party is currently in the process of identifying a farm in which the project will be conducted.

Zanu PF National Secretary for Economic Affairs, Cde Obert Mpofu welcomed the decision on behalf of his province and assured Cde Mavhaire that his province will fully support the programme.

He however requested an extension of the deadline for submission of cattle saying the provincial leadership needed time to explain the programme in lower structures of the party.

The Livestock programme has already been launched in other provinces including Midlands and Matebeleland South.

The programme will also see each province venturing into crop production and conducting field days as a way of promoting the agricultural sector.

Politburo members who included Cde Sithembiso Nyoni and Cde Thokozile Mathuthu, Central Committee members and the provincial executive attended the meeting.
