The Zanu PF First Secretary and President, Cde Emmerson Mnangagwa, the Politburo, Central Committee and the party as a whole have congratulated the people of Zimbabwe on attaining 38 years of independence which will be celebrated this Wednesday.
In a statement to ZBC News, the Zanu PF Secretary for Information and Publicity Ambassador Simon Khaya-Moyo said this year’s independence celebrations are historic as they come at a time when the nation not only celebrates the attainment of independence but also the ushering in of a new political dispensation led by His Excellency, President Mnangagwa.
Ambassador Khaya-Moyo also said the independence Zimbabweans celebrate tomorrow came through the supreme and priceless sacrifices of many fine men and women who lost their lives in the struggle in countless battles fought both within and outside the country’s borders.
He said therefore the independence celebrations should be celebrated by all Zimbabweans irrespective of political, racial or religious divide in peace and unity.
Ambassador Khaya-Moyo also reminded Zimbabweans that the struggle was led by two erstwhile liberation movements, then Zanu and Zapu and their respective liberation armies, ZANLA and ZIPRA.
