Excitement has gripped the normally quite growth point of Esigodini ahead of the arrival of thousands of Zanu PF delegates tomorrow for the party’s 17th Annual National People’s Conference.

All roads lead to Esigodini in Umzingwane district of Matabeleland South Province for the ruling party’s conference that was preceded by Politburo and Central Committee meetings in Harare yesterday and today respectively.

President Emmerson Mnangagwa, who will officiate at the conference on Friday, is expected to handover a classroom block at Sacred Heart Secondary School in Esigodini tomorrow morning.

The hosting of the conference in the usually sleepy district of Umzingwane has generated a lot of excitement among locals while retail operators have started recording brisk business.

“We are very excited to be hosting thousands of people in our area. Those of us in business have already started benefiting from the influx of people here,” said one resident of Esigodini.

A visit to Mzingwane High School showed various service providers putting final touches to the conference venue while some delegates and invited guests were still being accredited.

An estimated 5000 Zanu PF party delegates are expected to attend the event that is scheduled to end on the 16th December.
