Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa has urged thousands of Zanu PF supporters in Chiwundura to rally behind Cde Brown Ndlovu, the party’s candidate for the Chiwundura by-election set for this Saturday.
Thousands of Zanu PF supporters flocked to Muchakata business centre for the party’s star rally.
As early as 7.am hordes of supporters could be seen streaming into the venue with others arriving in lorries and buses.
Revolutionary party songs and dances entertained the crowd as they waited for the address by Cde Mnangagwa, who was in the company of the party’s National Political Commissar, Cde Saviour Kasukuwere.
Cde Mnangagwa told the electorate that the party leadership is fully behind the candidature of Cde Ndlovu and urged them to give their ballot to Cde Ndlovu and ensure the party returns the seat.
Cde Kasukuwere weighed in encouraging the electorate to vote for a party with visionary leaders like Cde Robert Mugabe and his deputies who have always put people first and have worked relentlessly to liberate and empower the nation.
Cde Ndlovu promised to bring development in the constituency.
The ruling party is pulling out all stops to make sure the win the by-election.
The Saturday by-election is crucial for the party as the result will be viewed as a reflection of how the 2018 harmonised elections will pan out in the Midlands Province.
Cde Mdlovu will battle it out in the by-election with three other candidates; Takudzwa Guzete (NCA), Brighton Mudzwiti (Free Zimbabwe Congress) and Webster Zulu (Progressive Democrats of Zimbabwe).
The Chiwundura seat fell vacant following the death of Cde Kizito Chivamba.
