Youths in Matebeleland North have slammed the MDC-T leader, Mr Morgan Tsvangirai for his utterances that his party wants gay rights included in the new constitution.

Provincial Secretary for Information and Publicity in the Zanu PF Youth Wing, Cde Elizabeth Masuku, said Mr Tsvangirai’s utterances reflect that his party has gay leaders who are seeking protection in the new constitution.

Cde Masuku added that such utterances from the country’s leadership cannot be entertained as they promote immorality among the youth.

The Zanu PF youth chairperson for Hwange district, Cde Hardman Mavanga and his fellow counterparts said homosexuality can never be accepted in both the traditional and biblical sense.

They said the utterances by Mr Tsvangirai are a way of attracting votes from gay people in the next elections.

Last week, Mr Tsvangirai stunned the nation when he appeared on a BBC television programme airing his support for gays and lesbians rights, which he said he would want included in Zimbabwe’s new constitution as human rights.
