Villagers in Zibwowa area of Zaka East constituency are appealing to the government to construct more water sources as there is only one functional borehole in ward 20.

Speaking to the ZBC News, ward 20 Councillor Walter Masaka said the area has over 300 families that are relying on ward 20 borehole.

He noted that some families are being forced to walk for more than 5 km to the nearest water source.

Councillor Masaka further highlighted that not only humans in the area are being affected but also their livestock.

He cited that there have been more deaths of livestock as they are not getting sufficient drinking water.

The councillor also said that water woes in their constituency have stalled the development of infrastructure hence there is need to construct dams to harvest water and also there is need to drill more boreholes.

Mr Masaka urged the government and well wishers to intervene and rescue their constituency from water woes.
