Minister of State in Vice President Phelekezela Mphoko’s office and Mazowe Central legislator Tabetha Kanengoni-Malinga has implored youths in her constituency to engage in sporting activities saying sport is a form of employment and keeps youths off delinquent behaviour.

Teams from five different wards of Mazowe Central including Nehanda, Dambasoko, Masiyanzvengo, Chaminuka and Shopo all battled for pride and bragging rights at the football tournament at Jaji Primary School organised by youth chairpersons in the constituency and ward 5 councillor for the area.

The teams failed to score against each other in regulation time and matches went into the dreaded penalty shootout after goalless draws.

Cde Kanengoni-Malinga who has been spearheading sport development in the constituency by donating balls and equipment to the branches said sport has become a source of livelihood for many.

Mashonaland Central Zanu PF youth chairman Isaiah Mandaza also took the opportunity to educate the youths on the importance of voter registration, the new biometric voter registration kits to be used in the forthcoming 2018 harmonised elections and the need to register during the 90 day period.

Meanwhile, Cde Kanengoni-Malinga has donated 15 bags of cement and 350 litres of paint to be used for the refurbishment of buildings at Jaji Primary School.
