Youths from Mbare have partnered the Harare City Council on a clean-up campaign as part of a transformative initiative that targets recreation and sport infrastructure in the area.
The campaign was part of efforts to resuscitate unused play grounds and sport facilities most of which have been reduced to dumpsites.
Project Coordinator, Francis Katavinga said the campaign aims at creating a sense of responsibility within young people in the community.
Mbare residents, most of whom are young people who use the neglected infrastructure for various art and sporting activities, called on responsible authorities to keep the facilities safe and well maintained.
The habit of dumping litter everywhere has become a deep-rooted culture in most suburbs with the accumulation of garbage ending up being a health hazard.
