Youths have been challenged to play an active role in the development of the country by endevouring to map their own paths to success.
As part of celebrations to commemmorate the late Father Zimbabwe’s 100 years, a leadership symposium was hosted for youths with the aim of understanding their concerns while sharing in the crafting of solutions.
Guest speaker Minister of Youth, Indigenisation and Economic Empowerment, Honourable Patrick Zhuwawo challenged the youths to desist from a spirit of entitlement were they use their parents’ achievements without them shaping their own future.
While heaping praises to the youths for what he described as an achievement of having created more jobs than foreign direct investment, Cde Zhuwawo also indicated that everyone holds rights to the country and its resources.
Speaking at the same event, Joshua Nkomo Youth Movement Founder Mr Mehluli Moyo called for the setting up of policies that ensure youths make use of the abundant raw materials in the country in order to make a living for themselves.
The event organised by the Joshua Nkomo Youth Movement ran under the theme, “Celebrating 100 years of Nkomoism 1917-2017.
Prominent personalities who include the Director Special Affairs at the African Development Bank, Dr Sipho Moyo, founder and chief executive officer of Bigtime Strategic Group Mr Justice Maphosa and social entrepreneur Miss Mantate Mlotshwa also attended the event.
