The Zanu PF Harare province Youth League has embarked on a restructuring exercise to strengthen the party ahead of the anticipated elections this year. The league held an inter-district meeting in Harare where the restructuring exercise was top on the agenda, with provincial chairman Jim Kunaka saying young people, who are the vanguard of the party, are solidly behind the recent pronouncement on elections and have begun ensuring that all the structures are in place.
At the meeting, various issues affecting young people were discussed, chief among them the issue of the indigenisation and economic empowerment programme.
Provincial Secretary for Indigenisation and Economic Empowerment, Cde Innocent Hamandishe, expressed with concern the failure by a local building society to disburse the Youth Fund after its launch in December last year.
He said efforts by youths to access the facility have been fruitless as the funds are still not accessible.
The Head of State and Government and Commander-in-Chief of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces, President Robert Mugabe, is on record as saying elections will be held this year with or without the new constitution as the inclusive government has failed.
The Zanu PF Politburo also recently announced that elections will be held this year and party’s youths are already on the ground to ensure that the party is strengthened at the grassroots level.
