The six players are Luke Rutter, captain Marco Mama, Tatenda Karuru, Charles Jiji, Takudzwa Jaravaza and Takudzwa Mandiwanza.

Zimbabwe Under 19 rugby coach Brighton Chivandire is optimistic that their presence will be a key factor at the African Junior rugby event which begins this Saturday.

“We are satisfied with our preparations and the guys are confident and raring to go.

“The team will obviously be banking on the return of six players that were present at the World Cup in Russia to put up match winning performances in Cot d’ Ivoire,” said Chivandire.

After assembling for camp on Sunday, the young Sables squad which was initially made up of 41 players, later trimmed to 26, will be also banking on players that formed the core of the Craven week squad, such as Graham Logan, Jacque Peters and Farai Jijita.

The young Sables are scheduled to depart for Cote d’Ivoire in the early hours of Thursday headed for Nairobi Kenya before catching a connecting flight to the West African country.

The competition will also act as the qualifiers for the Junior Rugby World Cup.
