Team coach Brighton Chivandire believes the young Sables have what it takes to finish among the 4 best sides at the Junior Rugby World Cup set for Georgia next week.

Chivandire, who was speaking shortly before the Young Sables departure for South Africa where they were scheduled to catch a connecting flight to Istanbul, indicated the team’s desire to secure a top 4 finish, which would help them secure an automic berth at the 2012 event.

“Our target is to at least finish 4th, we have come together as a team and with the work that we have put in, I am confident we will be able to achieve our goals,” said Chivandire.

Young Sables captain, Marco Mama expressed satisfaction with work done in the run up to the tournament, indicating high expectations within the camp.

“We have been working really hard with our tactics and physical conditioning, we have a really talented side so hopefully we will be able to cause some upsets in Georgia and do better than we have done before,” Mama said.

The Young Sables, who finished 7th at the same event hosted by Russia last year, will be hoping to do better when they clash with Japan, Canada and hosts, Georgia in tricky Pool B assignments.

The squad, which won the Junior Africa Cup in Cote d’Ivoire last year, will be banking on the likes of Marco Mama, Takudzwa Mandiwanza and Charles Jiji to steer the team to important victories.
