After crashing to a heavy 4-nil defeat to South Africa in an international friendly last weekend, Mighty Warriors technical director, Takaendesa Jongwe took the Zimbabwe Under 20 women’s soccer team through their paces at Barclays Sports Club as the team seeks to find a winning formula.

With the loss to South Africa exposing some shortcomings, the Zimbabwe Under 20 soccer team’s assistant coach, Sithethelelwe Sibanda expressed confidence that the anomalies had been corrected.

The Young Mighty Warriors will be hoping the coming on board of Mighty Warriors players such as Rufaro Machingura, Rudo Neshamba, Emmaculate Msipa and Danai Bhobho will enhance the team’s chances of victory.

Apart from players that are in the current Mighty Warriors squad, the bulk of the team is drawn from all the country’s 10 provinces after being identified at the youth games hosted by Gwanda last year.

The Young Mighty Warriors host Mozambique in an Under 20 FIFA World Cup qualifier next weekend, with the return leg slated for Mozambique a fortnight later.

A victory over Mozambique in the first round of qualifiers would see the team having to negotiate their way past African giants, Nigeria.
