A cabinet minister has bemoaned lack of qualified people in certain positions which he says results in the country losing billions of dollars.
Speaking during the commissioning of the National Manpower Advisory Council (NMACO) in Harare, the Minister of Higher and Tertiary Education, Science and Technology Development, Professor Amon Murwira said ignorance has had negative effects to the country.
”Ignorance can result in someone using a diamond as a catapult stone instead of knowing the importance of the stone,” he said.
Zimbabwe has lost billions of dollars as a result of keeping wrong people in certain key positions.
“In Zimbabwe we are using coal for fire, are we serious we have stooped so low in not noticing the importance of coal to Zimbabwe,” he added.
Meanwhile, NAMACO councillors who have been commissioned are Professor Paul Mapfumo as the chairperson, Mr Elisha Moyo, Mr Misheck Siyakatshana, Dr Gilford Hapanyengwi, Mrs Tsungirirai Banga, Engineer Shelly Gondo, Mr Farai Mutambanengwe, Dr Lilian Dodzo, Group Captain Dr Manyere and Ms Audrey Mlambo.
