Sports journalists attending a two-day workshop in Harare are optimistic they will work in harmony with sports associations.

Sports associations have been challenged to promote media relationship for the development of sport in the country.

Addressing sports journalists attending a media workshop organised by the Zimbabwe Olympic Committee and Sports Journalists Association (SPOJA), Sports and Recreation Commission corporate communications officer Tirivashe Nheweyembwa said as a sports commission, they have noted that sports associations hide information from the media which makes those associations appear to be invisible.

Nheweyembwa said sports associations have a duty to avail sporting information to the media since they hold an integral part in the development of sport.

The majority of sports associations do not have public relations officers responsible for liaising and communicating with the media.
