The public hearings on the women`s development fund by the Ministry of Women Affairs, Gender and Community Development has exposed loop holes in the distribution and mismanagement of the funds by beneficiaries.

Chairperson of the portfolio committee Cde Beatrice Nyamupinga said Bulawayo had various challenges with regards to the women`s development fund.

She noted the ministry’s provincial administration was unable to furnish the committee with the benefactors of the fund, with some of the benefactors having been said to have relocated from Bulawayo and some diverting the funds towards other uses.

One of the beneficiaries who says she built a creche with the loan she received was unable to furnish the portfolio committee with the documents to reveal her other partners although she revealed she got the loan with her partners under the name ‘Passionate Alms’.
