Unearthing of new talent will be the main thrust of the Windview Winter Chess Festival to be held early next month in Harare.

30 schools are set to participate in the chess festival to be held in Zimre Park in a move expected to identify more players for the national team.

The schools’ Sports Director, Mr Prince Nechavava said the school has been providing a number of players to the national team and are confident that the showcase will expose more children to the sport.

The hosts will be pinning their hopes on the likes of Tatenda Mutambanembwa, Jonathan Mashingaidze and Tafara Kwashira who qualified to represent Zimbabwe at the Africa Youth Chess Champions in Port Elizabeth, South Africa last year.
