The renewal of illegal sanctions against Zimbabwe by the European Union (EU) and the United States of America (USA) recently is an angry reaction to the rejection of their preferred candidate, MDC Alliance leader Advocate Nelson Chamisa.

Despite opening up the democratic space through a raft of reforms to enhance democracy in the country, and even inviting all countries and institutions that were keen to observe the July elections last year, the West is still angry that President Emmerson Mnangagwa beat their preferred candidate Advocate Chamisa in the polls.

Zanu PF Central Committee member Cde Clemence Makwarimba said the renewal of the illegal sanctions against the country is a bitter reaction to President Mnangagwa’s victory.

Cde Makwarimba said the road to economic recovery after years of being on the decline will be painful but President Mnangagwa is determined to succeed.
