The Zanu PF Mashonaland West provincial leadership has warned grassroot party members against assuming powers to allocate land, saying such practice will cause chaos on farms.

The province convened its first provincial interdistrict conference for this year, with provincial chairman Cde Ziyambi Ziyambi warning the party will not let chaos reign on farms due to illegal settlements.

He told the conference that some grassroot leadership has been allocating land illegally in return for some favours in contravention of the law which vests such powers in the Minister of Lands, Agriculture and Rural Resettlement.

Minister of State for Mashonaland West Provincial Affairs Cde Webster Shamu indicated that there are thousands of squatters on resettlement farms, a situation that has prompted the setting up of district squatter control teams to sensitise the illegal settlers to move away before they are forcibly ejected.

Guest of honour at the conference Cde Munyaradzi Machacha, the principal of the Chitepo Ideological College urged members wishing to occupy party posts to do so democratically.

Cde Machacha said it is now time to reorient some of Zanu PF members so that they get to fully understand the vision and the history of the party.
