The World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) held has outlined the qualification system for the six team baseball and softball events for the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.
The newly elected softball association executive members who were elected at an AGM held over the weekend will have the mandate of ensuring they vie for their slot in the new qualification system announced by WBSC.
WBSC members and affiliates will go through an exclusive eight WBSC international tournaments, four for softball and four for handball in order to book slots for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
Africa and Europe will battle it out in the six team tournament were top five finishers from European Baseball Championship and the winner of the African Baseball Championship will fight for the slot.
Japan being the host nation qualifies automatically.
Stornard Mapfumo was elected president while Elizabeth Mabhugu was voted vice president.
Witness Nkomo landed the secretary general post, Badwell Manjoro – treasurer while Leah Mashambanaka was elected committee member.
