The First Lady Amai Auxillia Mnangagwa has consoled the Tsvangirai and Gava families at their Strathaven home in Harare following the death of Honourable Vimbai Java on Monday.

The death of Vimbai has provided an opportunity for Zimbabweans to show political maturity, tolerance and unity.

Family members, friends, relatives and the MDC leadership including Advocate Nelson Chamisa came together in a somber atmosphere as they mourned the untimely death of Vimbai.

The first lady said the late Vimbai had good leadership qualities that must be emulated by every woman.

Mr Edwin Tsvangirai said Vimbai inspired them as she was the only child who wanted to follow the path of their father by joining politics.

Other family members described Vimbai as a humble and hard-working woman.

Children of the late MDC leader requested a private meeting with the first lady, while Chamisa also requested an opportunity to talk to her in private.

Vimbai was the eldest daughter to the late MDC leader, Morgan Tsvangirai.

She will be laid to rest today at the Glen Forest cemetery in the capital.
