The local football fraternity has hailed the Warriors’ 1-nil victory over Ghana at the ongoing African Nations championships in Sudan which revived Zimbabwe’s dreams of progressing further in the tournament.

Zimbabwe Soccer Supporters Association President Eddie Mboma Nyatanga who was in high spirits after the team’s technical department pointed out the need to keep injecting young blood into the squad.Â

Former Warriors left back Carlos Marx also expressed satisfaction with Zimbabwe’s victory but advised Madinda Ndlovu’s charges to be more clinical in front of goal.

Despite a disappointing 1-nil defeat to Niger in the opening Chan encounter on Saturday, the Warriors bounced back in style to edge Ghana 1-nil courtesy of an Archieford Gutu’s 70th minute header on a bumpy pitch, which resembled a surface for amateurs.

Zimbabwe now locks horns with South Africa in their next encounter on Sunday which has now become crucial.

A victory would ensure a quarter final berth for the Warriors if Niger fails to beat Ghana by a wide margin while a draw could still see Zimbabwe progressing if Niger loses to Ghana.
