warriorss.jpgThe Warriors wound up preparations for the African Nations Championships after conducting their last training session at the National Sports Stadium ahead of their departure for Sudan this Wednesday.

Warriors interim head coach, Madinda Ndlovu took the team through its paces, with emphasis placed on set pieces and defending, while assistant coach, Darlington Dodo worked with the teams attack.

Though disappointed by the Zimbabwe Football Association’s inability to organise any friendly matches, Ndlovu was satisfied by the response of the players during their tenure in camp.

After failing to make it to the knock out stages at the inaugural CHAN competition held in Cot D’Ivoire in 2009, Ndlovu said it was not so much about qualifying to the knock out phase, but building a team for the future.

Zimbabwe open their CHAN campaign with a match against Niger on Saturday before locking horns with Ghana on the 9th.

The Warriors complete their group fixtures on the 13th when they play South Africa in a tie that looks certain to produce fireworks due to the two nations’ documented rivalry.
