European based players Knowledge Musona and Marvelous Nakamba today joined the Warriors camp a few hours before the Zimbabwe senior men’s national soccer team’s departure for an AFCON Group ‘G’ clash against the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) on Saturday.
Nerves were settled following the arrival of Nakamba and Musona who reported for duty from their bases in Belgium.
After joining the rest of the team at Yadah Hotel, Club Brugge midfielder Nakamba was delighted to return to the Warriors after missing out on Zimbabwe’s away trip to Congo Brazzaville owing to injury.
There are high hopes for the Warriors who top Group G with 4 points courtesy of a superior goal difference and assistant coach Rahman Gumbo was frank with regards to the importance of the looming back-to-back fixtures against the DRC.
The Warriors had a morning workout today at the giant National Sports Stadium (NSS) before heading for South Africa where they were set to catch a connecting flight that will take them to their final destination, the DRC.
Zimbabwe and the DRC clash on Saturday evening with the return leg slated for the NSS next Tuesday.
