warriors2 zim.jpgIn a World Cup warm up match played in South Africa this afternoon, Zimbabwe held World cup finalists Japan to a nil all draw. In a first of its kind, the friendly match was divided into three thirty minute periods.

Though Japan controlled long periods of the match, they could not breach the Warriors defence and even the inspirational playmaker Shinsuke Nakamura who is expected to lead the Asian nation at the World Cup failed to breach the Warriors backline.

Zimbabwe’s squad which is entirely made of locally based players was hastily assembled after Japan had earlier indicated that they were going to play Mozambique before a change of heart.

At the World Cup, Japan are in Group E and will open their account with a match against the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon.
