The Warriors technical team and local based players will tomorrow leave for West Africa, where players based in South Africa and Europe are set to assemble for Sunday’s crucial AFCON encounter against Liberia.

Sunday Chidzambwa and his lieutenants are expected to leave via Kenya on Tuesday evening before connecting to Liberia where arrival is set for Wednesday.

The Warrior’s technical team and local based players will join foreign-based players that are expected to fly direct to Liberia from their various bases in South Africa and Europe.

Chidzambwa initially named a 21-man squad for the Liberia tie but Terrence Dzvukamanja and Byron Madzokere are unavailable after picking up injuries while turning out for their clubs.

With 19 players now to choose from, Chidzambwa is set to drop one player before departing for West Africa.

Zimbabwe is expected to only conduct their first training session on Thursday ahead of their crucial Group G encounter against Liberia slated for this Sunday.

Chidzambwa is set to welcome the return of Tinotenda Kadewere and Evans Rusike who missed out on Zimbabwe’s last 2 encounters due to injury.

Willard Katsande who last turned out for the Warriors at the 2017 AFCON finals is also set for a return following his inclusion in the Zimbabwean squad.

The Warriors currently top Group G with 8 points and could qualify for the 2019 AFCON finals if they get at least a point in Liberia.

In the reverse fixture, Zimbabwe hammered Liberia 3-nil and the Warriors will be hoping for similar fortunes as they embark on a trip to West Africa.
