The Zimbabwe National Liberation War Veterans Association has backed calls by the Head of State and Government and Commander-in-Chief of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces, President Robert Mugabe that there should be no politically motivated violence in the country.

The war veterans’ call for peace in the country was made at an administrative meeting held to discuss the welfare of the war veterans.

Zimbabwe National Liberation War Veterans Association National Vice Chairman, Cde Jephat Chinake said the war veterans are fully behind the initiative for peace in the country as it was the major reason why they took up arms during the days of the liberation struggle.

Zimbabwe National Liberation War Veterans Association Harare Province Chairman, Cde Elfas Chitera said despite divergent political views which people may have, they should never resort to violence.

Officially opening the Fourth Session of the Seventh Parliament of Zimbabwe, Cde Mugabe condemned violence, calling for tolerance and diversity among the citizenry.
