The memorial service of members of the Zimbabwe National Liberation War Collaborators Association who died in November last year in a car accident has been held in Rusape, amid calls for Zanu PF to be vigilant and be on high alert in defending the revolution in the coming elections.
As part of celebrating the lives of the 5 war collaborators who perished in the Nyazura accident, members of the Zimbabwe National Liberation War Collaborators Association marched from Vengere Hall and later gathered at Zanu PF’s district offices.
Addressing the gathering, Zanu PF Provincial Chairman for Manicaland Province, Cde Mike Madiro, said the forthcoming elections demands party cadres to shame the detractors of this country.
“Zimbabwe is in a war situation and people should vote in defence of the hard won independence and restoration of the party’s glory,†he said.
In his condolence message, Manicaland Governor and Resident Minister, Cde Chris Mushowe, who was represented by Mutare District Administrator, Mr Cosmas Chiriga and Zanu PF Politburo member, Cde Oppah Muchinguri, paid tribute to the unwavering support and supreme sacrifices of the 5 collaborators and their contribution towards the war of liberation.
The 5 members who were killed in a road accident are Ressie Sengedza, Febbie Kaitano, Sabhina Muvhunzi, Jesca Chinhamo and Hilda Nyabadza.
Relatives of the 5 and others who were injured were presented with blankets and money as part of supporting the families of the freedom fighters.
