The Zimbabwe Liberation War Collaborators Association (ZILWACO) says it supports the introduction of the single currency by the government as it is set to bring normalcy in the economy.

Addressing war collaborators at a Mashonaland East provincial meeting in Marondera, the association’s Deputy National Chairperson, Cde Josephine Gandiya said the move is set to bring sanity in the economy.

“As an association, we are happy with the decision taken by the government to scrap the multi-currency system and we are happy that so far prices of basic commodities have started to go down,” she said.

Mashonaland East ZILWACO Provincial Chairperson, Cde Criswell Madzonga said he hopes prices of basic commodities will continue to go down so that the majority of people can afford them.

“Since the introduction of the new currency regime, prices have started going down, which is a positive development,” he said.

The meeting also discussed preparations for the ZILWACO national congress to be held on 24 August this year.
