While most young people venture into music to sing hip-hop or what is locally called urban groves, students at Waddilove High school in Marondera have teamed up to form a group called the Soldiers of Heaven and produced an album titled “Mbiri kuna Mwari.”

Patron of the group who is also a teacher at the school Mr. Patrick Nyahwo said the album to be launched this Saturday is set to change the mindset of most people who don’t appreciate gospel music from young people.

School head Mr. Tinashe Manheru spoke of the importance of students learning music saying this allows them to be morally upright

A Reverend in the Methodist Church in Zimbabwe Reverend Beauty Makuzva based at the school said that the theme for this year’s youth activities is “Rise up and act”, hence the launch of the album is an indication that young people are playing their role in spreading the gospel.

The album has eight tracks titled “Mbiri kuna Mwari, “Hosanna, takapihwa zvipo” a hymn “Pane sipiti”, among others.
