Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa has paid glowing tribute to Jeremy, the son of the Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Development, Dr Joram Gumbo, who died in South Africa on Tuesday last week.

Several Government officials and thousands of people thronged Mpesi village in Mberengwa, the rural home of Dr Gumbo, for the burial of Jeremy.

Speaking at the burial, Cde Mnangagwa said it is never easy for any parent to bury their own child but urged the Gumbo family to take solace in their son’s immense contribution not only to the family but to the nation at large.

Dr Gumbo said his hopes were that his son would get better, while Zimbabwe Defence Forces Commander, General Constantino Chiwenga saidg they were grieving with the family following the untimely death of Jeremy.

Relatives and friends described Jeremy as a humble, generous and wise man who would always go out of his way to assist others.

Ministers Prisca Mupfumira, Makhosini Hlongwane and Patrick Chinamasa, and the Speaker of Parliament, Advocate Mudenda were among scores of senior government officials who attended the burial.
