vp mujuru-chivinge2.jpgVice President Joice Mujuru has challenged banks and government to unveil loans and establish viable markets for communal farmers as they have the potential to turnaround the economy.

Cde Mujuru who was accompanied by Agriculture, Mechanisation and Irrigation Development Minister, Dr. Joseph Made, said this in Uzumba constituency on Friday where she toured Chivinge Piggery Project which  holds over 1 000 pigs.

After touring the project, which was spearheaded by ZBC Head of Business and Quality Assurance, Mr. Chris Chivinge, Vice President Mujuru appealed to banks to provide support to small-scale farmers who have the potential to produce.

Vice President Mujuru noted that it is the desire of the Head of State and Government and Commander-in-Chief of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces, President Robert Mugabe through the empowerment drive to see government addressing issues of payment of farmers at the Grain Marketing Board (GMB) as well as establishing  new markets to cater for farmers starting at grassroots level.
